How to use the calculator
The homepage contains three percentage calculations. Each one updates automatically as you type, with results displayed instantly. Simply enter your numbers and the answer appears in the result box.
All formatting, thousands separators, and decimal adjustments happen in real time.
What each calculation does
1. What percentage is X of Y?
Helps you determine how much X represents out of Y. Example: “25 is what percent of 200?”
2. What is X% of Y?
Finds the exact amount that represents X percent of Y. Example: “15% of 80.”
3. How much did X change compared to Y?
Shows the increase or decrease between two numbers. Negative values indicate a drop.
Copying results
To copy any answer, simply click the result box. The number is copied without the “%” symbol, allowing easy pasting into documents, spreadsheets, or messages.
You will see a short visual indicator confirming the copy action.
Formatting and separators
Numbers you type are automatically formatted with thousands separators for clarity. Decimals are supported, and unnecessary zeros are removed depending on the rule of the specific calculation.
Commas pasted from other sources are handled intelligently and converted to the proper format.
Common issues and troubleshooting
The result shows “—”
This means the calculation cannot be completed. Most often it is because:
- You entered an empty field
- You used 0 in a position that cannot accept it (such as dividing by zero)
- The format is incomplete (“1.” without decimals)
Input field turns slightly red
This appears when a value is invalid or would make the calculation impossible.
Paste is not working as expected
When pasting numbers, commas are removed and formatting is applied instantly. If something looks off, try pasting plain text only.
Browser compatibility
PercentSet is built to work fully on modern browsers:
- Chrome
- Safari
- Firefox
- Edge
JavaScript must be enabled for the calculator to function.
